Checklist for Trading in your RV

Before approaching RV dealers about upgrading your RV, make sure you are going to get the best trade-in value for your motorhome. To do that, you should take some steps to decide on a price and/or improve the value. To help you get the most out of your trade-in, Nohr’s RV Center offers some tips on what dealers are going to be looking for.

  • Check the Roof – Look for leaks, creases, and cracks which could affect the value. If there are previous repairs or patches, makes sure they are in good condition.
  • Engine Compartment – Make sure your motor is clean and properly tuned. Check your battery for corrosion and age, and replace it if necessary.
  • Wheels and Tires Clean the wheels and look for signs of wear or damage. Make sure that the tires do not show signs of dry rot and have good tread. Don’t forget to check the spare.
  • Windows and Windshields – Clean the windows inside and out, and take note of any scratches or chips.
  • Service and Generator Compartments – Verify that all hoses and connections are present and in good working condition. Replacing a hose is a better option than losing value on the RV.

  • Exterior and Slides – Make sure that the exterior siding is in good condition and free of holes and other damages. Verify the slides are in good working order and move smoothly when opening or closing them.
  • Awnings and Doors – Awning and doors should be free of damage and all latches and cranks should operate smoothly and quietly.
  • Plumbing and Electric – Verify that all faucets, drains, and outlets are in good condition and work properly.
  • Cabinets and Closets – Look for missing shelves, hinges and latches.
  • Furniture and Equipment – Make sure that all of the furniture is in good shape and that everything is ready for immediate use.
  • Appliances – Verify that all of your appliances are present and in good working condition.
  • AC and Heat – Check the heating and cooling capabilities and perform any necessary service.
  • Safety Equipment – Evaluate all fire extinguishers, road reflectors, seat belts, and other safety equipment is present and in good condition.
